Let's meet at Lowe's on Overland Rd. in Meridian at 8:00 am to carpool. We will drive to Meacham Divide Nordic Trails. Meacham Divide is one of the largest Nordic ski areas in Oregon, offering 20 kilometers of groomed trails, with varying levels of difficulty. At 4,100 feet in elevation and views of the 1,400-foot deep Meacham Canyon and Spout Springs Ridgeline, Meacham Divide has some great skiing and snowshoeing alongside some breathtaking views. It will take us approximately 3 hrs. to get there so bring a lunch. Meacham Divide Nordic area is accessed from Summit Road exit 243 on I-84 (travel 18 miles west from La Grande, OR. At the exit, travel 1.7 miles northeast on Forest Service Road 31. All wheel drive vehicle is generally required. An Idaho Park N Ski pass is required for parking (if you don't have one, buy a 3 day pass because it will be cheaper than buying an Oregon Pass). Recommended donation: $7.00 per person (you can pay copying this url: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/02a88a71-8bbe-4621-ac22-9953ac9e7e94.
We will ski/snow shoe until late afternoon when we will return to LaGrande to check into the hotel, America's Best Value Sandman Inn. You can get an AARP discount on rooms by using AARP's travel center on their website to reserve your room. I would encourage you to get a reservation that you can cancel. I will arrange a place for dinner once I know how many people are going.
The Hotel provides breakfast. At 9:00 am the nordic skiers will drive to Anthony Lakes, approximately 1 hr away. You can bring your lunch or purchase food in the lodge. Trail passes are FREE for anyone over 70 yrs old. $25 for those under 70. The drive home is 2 hrs. 45 min. approximately.
At 9:00 am Snow Shoers will drive to Phillips Lake to snow shoe. It is one hour from LaGrande back towards Baker City. There are 19.9 miles of trails to explore. You can find more information by googling Phillips Lake XCountry Skiing and Snowshoe Trails. The drive home is 2 1/2 hrs. approximately.
The trip is entirely dependent on snow and road conditions. Prior to the date of cancelling our reservations I will touch bases with everyone.
