A local nonprofit volunteer organization is working now to ensure a healthy Boise River for the future. At our meeting on Monday, Nov. 4, 7 p.m., Robert Tiedemann, leader of the Boise River Enhancement Network, will give us an ecological report about the river today from Lucky Peak dam through Boise. Then he will describe three research projects currently underway to improve the river’s future. Those efforts involve raising cottonwood trees resistant to climate change, battling invasive shrubs, and a novel approach to riverbank protection that doesn’t involve riprapping.
Note: Fish & Game meeting rooms are separate from the main entrance. If facing the main entrance (600 S. Walnut Street), the meeting room door is on the right side of the building facing south. A club member will be tending that door to admit attendees from 6:30-7 pm. (Arrive early or on time to be assured you can get in.) A short club business meeting will be held at 7 p.m., followed by Mr. Tiedemann’s talk.
The officers will hold a brief administrative meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the same location. All members are welcome to attend.
